CONTRACT PILOT REQUIREMENTS
For pilots based in the United States: (Pilots based outside the United States will be considered on a case-by-case basis)
1. For fixed-wing pilots, hold a FAA Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot certificate with any Airplane class rating, and an Instrument Airplane rating.
2. For rotary-wing pilots, hold a FAA Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot certificate with Helicopter rating
3. Have logged:
- 1000 hours of Pilot-in-Command time;
- 100 hours of cross-country (defined here as a landing more than 50 nautical miles from the takeoff airport);
- 50 hours of night time
- 50 hours of solo time (may include student pilot flights)
- 3a. (3) May be reduced to 500 hours of Pilot-in-Command time and 25 hour of night time and 25 hours of solo time for pilots holding a current Flight Instructor (any category) certificate
4. Mastery of the English language, including aviation English.
5. [Not necessary for rostering—to be completed prior to first assignment] Successful completion of interview and reference check by A.D.S.. Pilots must supply two references. It's my job to examine qualifications, talk about needs and reasons for wanting to ferry aircraft, and ultimately decide if their personality, and technical skill, make them a good fit.
6. As a reminder, A.D.S. contracts with pilots, who are free to come and go as they please. A.D.S. reserves the final decision about whether an individual pilot will be rostered and may do so for any reason (as work is contract-only).
It's good for you
- Potential clients can ask for you by name
- Some potential clients could be attracted by your attributes. For example, I place a small American flag on the profile of U.S. current of former military. Some potential clients might want a member of the military to fly their aircraft.
- Your listing is proof of professional relationship to potential employers
It's good for me
You are lending your credibility to the website and therefore the business.
It's good for both of us
A more credible business will likely attract more potential clients, meaning more potential flights for you and more potential clients for me.
- You're in my pilot network
- You get the same bid requests as the "On The Website" pilots
- Your information is private.
- I respect and support your decision to not appear on the website

4. Add your data to a template with the information I'll need [SKIP if already done].
5. I will build a draft profile.
6. I will send it to you via email or text.
7. Look it over and make sure it is acceptable to you. If not, tell me what needs to be changed, and I will change it then re-submit it to you.
8. If it does look okay, let me know and I'll post it. (It may not get posted immediately because I don't update the website daily; but rest assured you are on the Roster and will start to get notifications when they come in.)

Q: How much do you pay? A: Pilots bid on their pay. You can choose from a daily rate, an hourly rate, or a flat fee. I'll advance your information and pay bid to the client. In the event the client counters the bid, I'll come back to you and see if you're still interested. Your pay originates from the client, via contract. The client pays me and I pay you; no cut taken.
Q: Do you take a cut of my pay? A: No. I don't take a cut or percentage of anything.
Q: How do you make money? A: I charge the client a Cost of Professional Services and Operations which is independent of pilot pay.
Q: How am I insured for a flight? A: Clients carry aircraft insurance policies which provide for damage and liability coverage. Pilots are encouraged, but not required, to carry supplemental liability insurance.
Q: Am I responsible for any expenses during a ferry mission? A: No. All expenses are reimbursed, except food and drink which are covered by per diem. Personal entertainment (like movie tickets, video rentals, etc.) won't be reimbursed. In the event of uncertainty, check with me before you buy.
